The history of the English Bible begins at the time of the Roman conquest, when the Latin Vulgate
was brought to England and translated into the then "Old English" (Anglo-Saxon). The English language is divided into 4 time periods. The period from 600 to 1150 was determined by the
"Anglo-Saxon" (West Saxon) or "Old English". During the years 1150 to 1450/1500 "Middle English" was spoken and in the third period from 1450/1500 to 1750 "Early Modern English" was spoken from
